Tribute

Edward James Jasek Jr., 89, of Crosby, Texas went home to be with his Lord on August 5, 2020 while surrounded by his family in his home in Mont Belvieu, Texas.

He was born on March 17, 1931 to Edward and Emily Marek Jasek in Crosby, TX where he was raised. His formative years were spent working the family farm and learning to be an outdoorsman with his brothers and cousins.

Edward honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was stationed in the harbor of Boston, Massachusetts in an anti-aircraft artillery unit and protected the mainland against enemy attack.

He married Helen Hylton on December 18, 1952. They had three children, Connie Polka, Regina Woodard and Peggy Jackson. Edward and Helen enjoyed thirty years in marriage.

Edward worked for the Harris County Flood Control for 32 years, retiring in 1986 as Shop Supervisor. He was a member of SPJST and past RVOS  President of the Crosby, TX Lodge. He was a generous donor to multiple charities, especially those benefitting children.

He was a lifelong, avid hunter and fisherman. He had a great love for his family and spent most of his time enjoying their company. His family all lovingly referred to him as “Pawpaw”.

Edward is survived by his daughters, Connie (Raymond) Polka, Peggy (Clarence) Jackson, son-in-law Lawrence Woodard; grandchildren, Edward (Janet) Woodard, Jamie (Chris) Hughes, Susan (Mark) Novak, Raymond Polka Jr., Rhonda (Jason) McHugh; eight great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; brother Alton (Ruth) Jasek and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Hylton Jasek; daughter Regina Woodard; grandson Brent Walkup; parents Edward Jasek and Emily Marek; brother Thomas Jasek.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 4 pm-7 pm at Sterling White Funeral Home and Cemetery, 11011Crosby- Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, Texas 77562.

Funeral services will be on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 10 am in the chapel of Sterling White Funeral Home with Edward Woodard officiating. Interment will follow at Worthy Cemetery in Moss Bluff, Texas.
