Tribute

Emma Pauley White beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2020, at the age of 93. 

 

Emma is survived by her siblings Helen Moore, Virginia Lewis, and Arthur Pauley and daughter Jennifer, and Danny and her grandchildren Greg, Larissa, Thomas, Vanessa, and Jeffrey and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Bud” White, daughter Judy Collins, and siblings Dona, Otto, Athalene, Odie, and William.

 

Emma was born on November 24, 1926, in rural West Virginia, she worked as a key punch operator for IBM after graduating high school. When she was 22 she moved to Texas and began working for the Humble Oil Company in 1947. She married Thomas Henry White in June of 1948 and they had two daughters Judy and Jennifer. She lived in Highlands the remainder of life.

 

Emma was a faithful member of First Baptist Highlands since 1948, where she taught GA’s (Girl Ambassadors), Sunday School, and Youth Group for many years. Her deep desire for all to know Jesus was continuing passion throughout her life. She was an expert seamstress and her love of sewing inspired multiple generations to follow in her footsteps.  She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who had the privilege to know her.  

 

A visitation is scheduled for Monday February 24th from 5-8pm at the Sterling-White funeral home in Highlands, with a memorial service to follow on Tuesday February the 25th at 2pm.
