Our lovely Gloria Jean (Goudeau) McBride was born on October 8, 1946 to Bernard and Bernadine Goudeau in Baytown, TX. The Lord called her home on July 9, 2020. She was one of five siblings and full of love for her family. With her big heart and gentle disposition, she showed tremendous caring to those near and dear to her. She had a joyful laugh, an immensely beautiful smile and frequently ended a visit or phone call with an ‘I love you.’ We all cherish the sweet caress of these words.
Gloria Goudeau married Robert Harris and to this union her only child, Adrienne L. Harris was born. She cherished being a mother to Adrienne and passed on to her a kind and easy-going spirit. Gloria loved children, she often gathered her nieces for visits where they would listen to her sing to the music on the radio in the car, allow them to eat excessive amounts of snacks, and simply enjoy filling the space with laughter. She demonstrated selfless love while helping to care for her parents in their illness. Gloria rarely forgot a birthday; a beautiful card was always in order.
Upon graduating from Carver High, Gloria had a 35- year career with ExxonMobil where her eye for detail, organization, and communication contributed to her success.
She met the love of her life William McBride and they remained married for 41 years until his death in May 2020. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Bernadine Goudeau, brothers Bernard Evans Goudeau and Christopher Joel Goudeau.
She is survived by her daughter Adrienne L Harris, sisters, Cleo A Donato and Janice Day (husband Gregory), stepsons, William McBride III, Kelvin McBride, and Lonnie McBride, stepdaughter Stephanie McBride, step-grandchildren, William McBride IV, Brittany Brown, Stephanie McBride, Brandon McBride, Steven McBride, and Amber McBride and a host of family and friends.
Her spirit will live on in our love, kindness, and sincerity toward one another.
