Tribute

Hazel Aylor Burwick, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019. She was born on December 12, 1934 in Van, Texas to William Benjamin “Ben” Flournoy and Hazel Mary Flournoy. She was a hard worker, eventually working in the homebuilding business with her late husband Joe Aylor, then as a realtor, and finally in commercial real estate.  On the side, she and late husband Jack Burwick enjoyed many years of selling gourmet food products with “A Sami Show” throughout Central Texas and Lafayette, LA.  An avid outdoors woman, she enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.  Hazel loved growing plants, especially her plumeria flowers and azaleas.  She also enjoyed collecting hammered aluminum and other antiques. Hazel was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Hazel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Hazel Flournoy; brother, Alfred Flournoy; sister, Becky Laird; husbands, Joe Aylor; and Jack Burwick.

Hazel is survived by her son, Brad Wolcik and wife Jan; daughter, Leslie Walsingham; and grandchildren, Joseph Wolcik, Jenna Wolcik, Jaci Wolcik and fiancé Wyatt Flournoy, Clayton Adams and fiancé Lauren Zeto, Garrett Walsingham and wife Chloe, special niece Mary Fleming and Dan, numerous family and friends. The family would like to recognize and thank the staff and caregivers at The Waterford at Baytown Memory Care Unit.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm.  Interment will be in Sterling White Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, Texas.
