Ida Goudeau

August 8, 1939 ~ March 28, 2021 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

On August 8, 1939, God blessed Morris and Ida Valentine (Arceneaux) Singleton with their seventh child, Ida Mae. Ida Mae was born in Dayton, Texas, and grew up in Barrett Station, Texas.

Ida Mae graduated from Charles R. Drew High School in 1958. She valued education and stressed the importance of  "getting your lesson."

She fell deeply in love with Hardiman Goudeau, Sr. her older brother Wilson's brother-in-law. The two married on June 28, 1958, and God blessed their union with four children, Hardiman Jr., Reginald, John, and Delsie. Ida Mae's family was her top priority. As a homemaker, she prided herself on supporting her children in all their endeavors and caring for their needs.

Ida Mae's passion was caring for people, from the children she watched to family members in need. She loved to bake and took great pride in decorating her home, inside and out. Ida Mae was a devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, enjoyed traveling with her RV Club, The Pioneers, and heading east on I-10 for a trip to the casino with her husband.

Even in her final days, Ida Mae was a feisty woman who told you exactly what she thought and how she felt. But there was never a doubt that her straight-shooting points of view were fueled by love.

Ida Mae was called home on March 28, 2021. Awaiting her at heaven's gate is her beloved husband Hardiman Sr., her parents, and siblings Elnora Anderson, Wilson Singleton, Lillie Mae Joesph, Alfred Singleton, and Wilford Singleton.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her siblings Ruby Williams and Albert Singleton. Left to carry her legacy are her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Hardiman Jr., and Edith Goudeau, parents of Ashley Goudeau Freeman (Brian, daughter Chloe) and Justin, Reginald Goudeau and Veretta Simmons, John Goudeau parent of John, John Ashton, and Alexandria Goudeau Windom (Richard, children Helena, Richard Jr., and Ryder) and Delsie and Steven Stoute parents of Nicholas and Joshua.
