James Edward Vrana

James Edward Vrana, 80, of Hempstead, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. He was born on December 17, 1938 in Sheldon, Texas to Charles Vrana and Selma Sonka Vrana. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and he also served in the United States Army. James married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Walker Vrana on August 31, 1963 and together they were married for 55 years and 6 months. He worked for Kellogg Brown & Root Inc as a welder and retired after working for them for many years. James and Shirley enjoyed camping with their family and friends and were able to travel around most of the United States. James loved fishing, hunting, hosting cookouts, tending to his garden, and doing tractor work. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his son, Rockey Vrana; and parents, Charles and Selma Vrana.

James is survived by his wife, Shirley Vrana; daughter, Nancy Vrana Springer; grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Sarah Springer, Matthew Springer; brothers, Ernest Vrana, Ray Vrana, and David Vrana and wife Sueye; sister, Dorothy Vrana Hylton and husband Harry; and a host of extended family and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Springer, Brad Egesdahl, Max McGinty, Logan Dowell, Tyler Bolton, Colby Rejcek, and Augustus Culp. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Hewitt, Jason Bice, Mark Evans, Scott Egesdahl.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm.
