Kevin Michael Brinkman, 72, of La Porte, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2021. He was born on January 4, 1948, in Bryan, Texas, to the late Gus John and Sheila Mary (Wallace) Brinkman. Kevin grew up in Baytown and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1966. After high school, he attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he pursued a degree in business. Kevin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in the Philippines during the latter part of the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he briefly worked at his father’s auto service center in Baytown. He subsequently became a shift worker for Chevron Phillips at the Baytown chemical plant where he served for more than 30 years. He retired in 2013 as a utilities supervisor.

Kevin was a man who pursued many interests, some of which included his love for watching movies, he was very proud of his collection of Blu-Ray DVD’s, also he had a passion for music, having an electric taste in a wide variety of genres. Another favorite passed time he had was playing the PlayStation. He was a devoted father and family member. Kevin was a hard worker who always made sure his children were well taken care of. In fact, they didn’t want or need for anything. For several years, he served as troop leader while his son participated in Boy Scouts of America, and he avidly volunteered at his daughter’s numerous dance recitals and competitions. He was the “go to” person everyone could count on whenever a favor was needed. Kevin was also a generous contributor to the United Way of Greater Houston.

Kevin was survived by his children Shannon Lee Brinkman (Jennifer) of Baytown and Theresa Renee Gooras (Jason) of Johnstown, Colorado; his grandchildren Haley, Minnie and Michael Brinkman of Baytown, Texas; Hunter and Nevaeh Hudson, Rylan, Taytum, Mandra and Jaila Gooras of Johnstown, Colorado; his siblings Rev. Terence Brinkman, S.T.D., pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Baytown, Texas; Kathleen Felts of Lubbock, Texas; and Patricia Conner (Rodger) of Houston, Texas, his nieces Margaret Felts of Seattle, Washington; Patricia Cisneros of Sulphur, Louisiana; Sheila Cupp of Houston, Texas; Colin Baird of Houston, Texas; hisnephews James (Margo) Felts of Lubbock, Texas; Peter Baird of Houston, Texas; numerous cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, January 15, 2021, in the chapel of Sterling ~ White Funeral Home from 5 pm until 7 pm. At the family’s request the funeral service and burial for Mr. Brinkman will be a private family service.
