Leon Akers

Leon Akers, 81, of Crosby, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. He was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on September 28, 1937 to Floyd James Akers and Nellie Grace Creech Akers. Leon retired from Teledyne-Firth Sterling in 1987 and again from Wal-Mart in 1999.  He served as Chairman of the Union Stewards with Teledyne-Firth Sterling.  He was active in several church ministries throughout the years at First Baptist Church Houmont Park in Houston and Highland Lakes Baptist Church in Kingsland. He became a member of First Baptist Church Crosby in 2014. Leon enjoyed gardening and having his back scratched.  He always enjoyed having his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around. Leon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd James & Nellie Grace (Creech) Akers and ten siblings.

Leon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillian Davis Akers; sons, Joel Akers and wife Gay, and Dale Akers and wife Dana; daughters, Kathy Akers Parker and husband Bruce, and Ethel Akers Ream and husband Gerald; nine grandchildren, Bryan Parker and wife Amy, Kevin Parker and wife Shayla, Bradley Parker and wife Amanda,  Katie Akers Boggs,  Noah Akers, Michael Akers, Amie Akers, Joshua Ream and wife Angela, and Stephen Ream; fourteen great grandchildren, Hannah, Elle & Maxxam Parker; Mikaylyn, Aubrey & Judah Parker; Kaleb Krissel, Luke & Madison Parker; Isabella, Olivia & Brayden Boggs; Brandon & Kinley Ream; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Decker Prairie Cemetery on Decker Prairie Rd.in Magnolia, Texas.
