Leon Torres

Leon Torres, 79, of Baytown, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2018.  Leon was born on July 13, 1938 in Houston, Texas to Dionicio and Concepción Ortiz Torres. Leon grew up in Baytown and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force at 18, where Leon served his country for 20 years, including in the Vietnam war. After retiring from the Air Force, Leon returned to Baytown and worked as a process technician for ExxonMobil until retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars, helping people, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events and spending time with his family and friends. Leon was a very hardworking, generous and honest man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Dionicio and Concepción Torres; brother, Rudy Torres; brother, Henry Torres and brother, Johnny Torres. Leon is survived by his wife, Carmen Torres of Baytown; daughter, Marisol Torres of Baytown; daughter, Sandra Torres of Baytown; daughter, Linda Alvarez of Pasadena; daughter, Lydia Ortiz and husband Hector of Austin; son, Mario Leon Torres of Crosby; sister, Edna Nance; brother, Raymond Torres and wife Amy of Baytown; brother-in-law, Rafael Perez and wife Soledad of Baytown; grandchildren, Aaron, Victoria, Lauren, Santiago, Solana; great grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas and many other relatives and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sterling-White on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 5pm-8pm with a rosary starting at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1907 Carolina Baytown, TX 77520 with burial following at Sterling-White Cemetery.
