Tribute

Lois A. Trahan Feb 16, 1928 – May 21, 2021 After a long and blessed life, Lois Trahan passed away the evening of May 21, 2021 in Highlands, Texas. She was born to the late Raymond and Laura Trumps Clement on February 16, 1928 in Choupique, Louisiana. Lois was a devoted wife to Louis Trahan, whom she met while attending a USO dance with friends. Lois is survived by their 3 children: Genevieve (Donald) Turman, Russell (Nancy) Trahan and Denise (Scott Bryant) Trahan as well as her children from a previous marriage: Carol Ann (Joseph) Comeaux and Robert (Judy) Guidry and her sister Verda Hebert. She was predeceased by her first child, David Roy (Glenda) Guidry, her sister, Mary Harris and her brother Lloyd Clement. Lois felt deeply blessed by the arrival of each of her 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as all the children she met while working at Jacinto City Elementary from where she retired. Lois loved to make Sunday dinner and she was described by one of the grandkids as “the grandma that cooks.” It brought her great pleasure to bake and fix plates of cookies for all the family and neighbor kids. Although she loved to cook, she loved eating out as much. She loved her chicken sandwiches and occasional hamburger when out shopping. She was an avid crafter and sewer and made clothes for herself, her kids and even a special request for a dog. In her younger days she made doll clothes for her girls and cousins and played beautician to the girls when rollers and pin curls were needed. As she got older Lois ended every call with “I love you” but she didn’t understand that it wasn’t needed because those were just words—her actions told us that truth every day of her life. Lois was unwavering in her Catholic faith and it wasn’t unusual to find a Saint Christopher medal or a prayer card hidden in your car after an outing with her. Visitation is scheduled on Saturday May 29, 2021 at 12 pm at the Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands followed by a 2 pm service. In remembrance of Lois the family asks you to light a candle to celebrate her reunion with loved ones in Heaven.
