Virginia Laverne Wooten

Virginia Laverne Smith Wooten, 94, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018. She was born on January 23, 1924 in Grapeland, Texas to George Smith and Maude Cunningham Smith. Virginia met her husband John in December of 1989 while dancing at a VFW Hall. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and getting her hair done. Virginia was a gentle, fun, and kind woman that will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Maude Smith; and nine brothers and sisters.

Virginia is survived by her husband, John Wooten; sons, Eddie Zafra and wife Mary, and Jerry Cormier and wife Ali; daughter, Judy McDaniel; granddaughters, Traci McDaniel, Tammy K. Allen, and Kimberly Ann Cormier; grandsons, Chase Cormier and wife Brooke, Rusty Cormier, Edward W. Zafra, and Tom McDaniel; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm.
