Kelvin, Ronnie, Phyllis -
Words escape me. I can't tell you what your mother meant to me. I don't think I've stopped to visit since last Aug or Sept, but I enjoyed our visits over a Coke at the kitchen table. She was so wise in advice and entertaining in her stories. She was always so energetic and happy while she zipped around the kitchen and the novelties of her (what I called) little museum. She gave me two of my very favorite vases and you wouldn't believe how we acted when she heard that the Beatles bobbleheads had been featured on t.v. as collectors treasures. She said she didn't need a dog, but you could tell how much she loved Buzzy! She was always interested in my children and even made sure have us come by for Gavin a graduation gift. We always laughed about a story of when she came to babysit my children and when she left Gavin couldn't find his favorite Power Ranger and he accused her of taking it! It was so funny! She understood the 4 year old little soul and later brought him some Power Rangers she had found at a garage sale. Gavin was humbled when he had to tell her he'd found his in his car seat, but she let him keep the others anyway. When Devyn was little and her daddy and I divorced, she kept reminding me that I would live, even though I didn't think I would and she knew how much Devyn loved strawberries and we would come home after work and daycare and find containers of them left on the porch by the strawberry fairy! I won't tell you how many times she tried to teach me to make divinity or how many bags of blackberries and tomatoes she sent home with us. I loved her dearly and my children did too. I could write about her forever, as she is almost constantly on my mind right now. Thank you Kelvin, Ronnie and Phyllis for sharing your very special mother with us. My prayers and sympathy is with you. Peace of The Lord be with you always. Tess, Gavin & Nessa Derryberry (and Devyn Istre).
